Eco is officially Chic at London Fashion Week

On a bright monday morning in February the EcoChic team headed to Esthetica at London Fashion Week to catch the Autumn/Winter collections from some of the country’s leading eco and ethical designers.

Esthetica, now in it’s 6th season has grown to 37 designers. Now. More than ever it’s inspiring to see so many new ethical designers and companies. It proves to cynics that despite the recession ethical fashion is here to stay!
What’s more, the Government has given ethical fashion a big boost by launching a Sustainable Clothing Action Plan, designed to investigate and chart the progress of cloth and clothes production through to consumption and where it ends its life, with the aim of making eco and ethical fashion the norm.
Esthetica got great reviews from leading journalists, some even saying that the best designs of the week were to be found in the Esthetica exhibition.
Even the after show party lived up to the eco glam expectations set throughout the week. Held at Moreton House in central London, and sponsored by Global Cool, models and fashionistas partied in style - eco style.
Highlights of Esthetica included:

Fifi bijoux - ‘uncompromising luxury as it should be; without the blood, sweat or tears’

It is not yet possible to get fair trade gold, but Vivienne, Founder of Fifi Bijoux is working with IFAT to make this a reality. In the meantime, her beautiful designs rely on positive ethics in the supply chain. The gold is mined by hand by cooperatives in South America, who receive a living wage for their work.

Beyond Skin and Nina Dolectti, both stylish and sexy in their own unique way.

Beyond Skin is a vegetarian shoe company employing only eco-friendly techniques in production, whereas Nina Dolcetti is all about upcycling. Offcuts, pre-cuts, whatever waste material she can get her hands are used for her range.

 

Originality in design definitely goes to the funky and slightly out there Goodone.
For glamour and sophistication Elena Garica’s latest collection really stood out.
