Brighton & Hove Montessori School for children aged 2 – 11 years old,  is thriving under the astute vision and passion of Headmistress Daisy Cockburn.

“We educate, we nurture and we unlock potential”.

Last week saw the Montessori Annual General Meeting in London and I was thrilled to attend and listen to a most inspiring communicator, Dr Steven Hughes,  who delivered vibrantly on the latest evidence  on how to help children’s brains develop through educational processes that fit remarkably well with Montessori best practice.

Daisy Cockburn is presenting at evening at Brighton Montessori School for parents interested to discover more on this theme –

When: Wednesday 27th June 2012, 7.30pm

Where: Brighton & Hove Montessori School, 67 Stanford Avenue, East Sussex, BN1 6FB

Who: Daisy Cockburn & Ben Pearse

A message from Daisy:

“We would very much like to share this with you next Wednesday evening, 27th June from 7.30 pm in order that we can look at and discuss together some of the latest fascinating insights in Neuroscience as on http://www.goodatdoingthings.com/”

“Look at the child” Maria Montessori 1870 – 1952:

The Montessori approach is based on the natural laws of human development. Maria Montessori observed that children under the age of six absorb limitlesly and effortlessly from the world around them and, in doing so, lay down foundations for later life. She identified certain windows of opportunity – she called them “sensitive periods” – when the child is irresistibly drawn to the things he needs to help him develop”. Daily Telegraph.
