Just last week London Jewellery Week launched Essence: an Ethical Jewellery Pavilion and the very first international collective show of the best designers in the emerging ethical movement.

Essence demonstrated partnership in action

In association with CRED and supported by the Fairtrade Foundation, the Responsible Jewellery Council and the GIA, Essence is a space for a group of designers who share the vision that sustainable products do not have to sacrifice design or quality. The designers are committed to sourcing all their materials and managing their business in a way that is socially, environmentally and culturally responsible.

The Ethical Jewellery Showcase

Essence  part of the Treasure exhibition showcased leading ethical jewellery designers, including CRED, Fifi Bijoux and Leblas as well as collections from Oria, April Doubleday, Avasarah and Ute Decker. Alongside these designer showcases there were a series of seminars and debates highlighting the issues faced by the industry and consumers and a live ethical design project curated by CRED, in association with London Metropolitan interior and product design graduates.

Cutting edge design combined with ethical sourcing.

What we can all celebrate is an emerging industry with several high profile jewellery designers who encorporate cutting edge design with handcrafted skills and sustainable sourcing practices. We are thrilled to be working with these talented designers who have the vision to take the jewellery industry in a more positive and sustainable direction where the producers, consumers and the environment are winners. It’s an ethical win all round.
