EcoChic-Product of the week
by Deborah Miarkowska
We are delighted to share with you how many of our EcoChic pieces are handcrafted by skilled artisans both here in the UK and in the developing world. Skills that have been passed on from generation to generation and todays piece is no exception.
So what is the product story?
Our chunky wooden bangle, beautifully handcrafted and Fair Trade from India, made within an IFAT (now WFTA) accredited workshop. A truly elegant piece that I love wearing.
This Sheesham wood bangle from Tara projects in India improves the lives of many craftspeople and their families. Tara Projects is a non-profit organisation based in Delhi serving twenty-five community based groups of artisans from all regions in North India.
Tara’s objective is to help craft workers to achieve self-sufficiency by providing income generating opportunities and develop marketing skills. They have brought about major changes in these craft groups and thier communities due to fair trade sales.
