EcoChic spotted the celebrated designer Leila Hafzi at the Pret-a-Porter in Paris, where she introduces her elegantly and sensual autumn/winter 2009/2010.

Unfading joy of creation has made this multiple award-winning brand into the red carpet frequenter it has become. The personal stylist of Angelina Joli wanted the guarantee of a hand painted, light green chiffon evening dress, to be worn by Angelina as the first and uniquely only…

The brand, Leila Hafzi, established in 1997 in Norway, was a new voice in the ethical- and eco-conscious high-end fashion scene. Leila Hafzi chose for sensual and elegant evening gowns and ‘BCBG’ dresses in which cultures were explored and environmental issues highlighted.

 The finest silks, cashmeres, nettle and organic cotton has been hand painted, shaped and draped into creations elegantly bringing out the sweet as well as the darker qualities of the bearer.

 

The multi cultural collaboration that the designer sought was found in her own design- and production company in Kathmandu, Nepal, where sometimes still a chaotic production takes place. Here, she established her own environmental and esthetical production cycles, based on Fair Trade principles.
