Working together to improve urban environments!
Urban Eco Map is an interactive map that empowers individual citizens to make informed decisions about their daily lives, along with how to participate in the vitality of their communities.
The makers of the Map aim to build awareness, fostering a sense of community, and provide actions for citizens to take to enable the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in cities.
Do it Now!
Do want some quick suggestions how you can reduce your environmental footprint? In the interactive map you can tell them what is most important to you and the Map shows you what is the best option on transportation, energy and waste.
you can also use the interactive Action Advisor to build an environmental action plan that is just right for you. Or use it as an useful library of environmental resources, based on you personal preferences!
Urban Eco Map’s goal is to help spur a shift to climate-friendly behavior in cities. Citizens want to see the collective results of their individual climate-change actions. Urban EcoMap allows citizens to see the impact of their climate-change activities, while also motivating people and creating competition among neighborhoods.
For the first time, Urban Eco Map gives every person the ability to see the collective results of your own climate change actions. Urban Eco Map provides information on carbon emissions from transportation, energy and waste among neighborhoods, organized by area codes.
Urban EcoMap is a landmark innovation and a key element of the Connected Urban Development framework for Connected and Sustainable Cities. San Francisco was the first city worldwide to launch Urban EcoMap, with the introduction taking place on Earth Day 2009 (April 22). Two other cities have since joined them, Amsterdam and Seoul. All three cities are striving to be climate neutral by 2015-2025.
